Jon Lee Tribute Evening
TJ’s, Newport, 5th September 2002.

A tribute to Jon from all his Newport based friends.

Five of Jon’s ex bands reformed for the evening (New Image, Mad Hatter, Ritzi, Eleventh Hour and The Average Cab Band), with some other guests and an un-announced appearance from local rockers The GTFBI Band making a total of 34 performers appearing on stage.

The event was promoted by the South Wales Argus and The Radio One Evening Session In Wales.

A glossy programme was put together and given out free of charge to everybody who attended.

390 people were there and the total profit of over £3,200, was passed on to Jon’s parents Pat and Norman to be put away for the future of his children.

It ended up being a fantastic fun night of which I’m sure Jon would have approved. With the re-formed, under rehearsed bands laughing their way through sets full of songs that hadn’t been played for years, if Jon was looking down he was wetting himself.

I still have programmes from the evening left, so if anyone would like one please e-mail me and I’d be happy to send you one.

The whole purpose of the evening was to be a tribute from those people who knew and played alongside Jon before Feeder took off.
The evening was never meant to have anything to do with Feeder and those who complained about the lack of Feeder related music on the night completely missed the point.

Grant Nicholas and Taka Hirose were invited to attend but for their own reasons chose not to, though the evening was well attended by members of Feeder’s crew.

The running order from the night.
